Tampa Bay Lightning @ Winnipeg Jets Preview

The Tampa Bay Lightning recently had their 10-game winning streak snapped, but they will be trying to start a new winning streak in Winnipeg on Friday. The Jets have been an up-and-down team all season long, but they remain in the playoff race in the Western Conference. There will be plenty of star power on the ice when these teams meet up on Friday night.

Lightning Returning To Last Year’s Form

The Lightning won the President’s Cup a season ago after finishing the regular season with the most points in the NHL. It has taken the Lightning some time to find their stride this season, but they look like the team from a season ago.

Tampa Bay is climbing up the standings in the Atlantic Division, and it will be a force in the playoffs.

Tampa Bay is averaging close to 3.6 goals per game this season, and Nikita Kucherov is once again leading the way. Kucherov leads the team with 32 assists and 49 points, and he can also score goals when he gets a chance.

The Lightning love to take chances throughout the game to give them scoring opportunities.

The Lightning have also been getting great goaltending of late, and they are allowing just 2.9 goals per game this season. Tampa Bay does a great job on special teams, and it has been rolling of late.

Jets Can’t Escape Mediocrity

The Jets just can’t seem to put a long winning streak together, but they win enough games to stay in a decent playoff position. The Jets have not been playing well of late, but they are fortunate to be playing the Lightning on their home ice in this game.

Center Mark Schiefele has been leading the way for Winnipeg on offense this season, but he needs some help. Schiefele leads the team with 22 goals, 29 assists, and 51 points, and he has been lighting the lamp plenty of late.

Special teams have been a bit of a mystery for the Jets this season, and that could spell trouble against the Lightning. If the Jets are going to take some bad penalties, they could be in a world of hurt against an explosive Lightning team.

Team That Establishes Tempo Wins

The Tampa Bay Lightning want to play fast and create a lot of shot opportunities. The Winnipeg Jets don’t mind playing that style of hockey, but they will try to slow this hockey game now. The winner of this game will be the team that can get the tempo and flow of the game in a style that they want to play at.
